COMMUNITY SERVICE EXPERIENCE

Bernadette, a member for the past eight years, currently sits on the Executive Board of the Junior Woman's Club of Ridgewood.  She served as the President & CEO from 2009-2010.  The Junior Woman's Club of Ridgewood is a non-profit woman's volunteer service organization whose goal is to support local charities that provide services to women and children.

A Girl Scout leader for the past 6 years for her daughter's troop, she was also Travell School Girl Scout Treasurer for 4 years.  She was involved in OLMC Moms,  having been the chair for the Circle of Care for several years.  Combining her passion for horses and community service, she is an annual supporter of The Garden State Horse Show.  

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Bernadette has spent the past 14 years as a Corporate Real Estate & Relocation Consultant working on specialized projects for clients.  She holds both the Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) and Global Mobility Specialist (GMS) designations through Worldwide ERC.  These designations signify mastery in the field of Domestic and International Relocation.  Projects  include accrual preparations, appraisal review, cost of living analysis, demographic studies for foreign corporations seeking to move to the United States, group moves, lease administration and general corporate relocation consulting. 

Prior to her independent consulting business, she was Director of Relocation at DJ Knight and Company, Ltd.,  Relocation Manager at The Relocation Assistance Cooperative (TRAC) and Relocation Specialist at The Home Insurance Company. Her entry into the business world was working for her family's Real Estate & Property Valuation business, where her parent's tutelage provided the background for her respect and understanding of the small business owner.

Bernadette is also a State Licensed Residential Real Estate Appraiser in the State of New Jersey.   She has been qualified as an expert witness in the Bergen County Board of Taxation.  From 1991 to 1999 she taught Residential Real Estate Appraisal Courses and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice at Bergen Community College.  She regularly prepares Real Estate appraisals for ad valorem tax purposes, mortgage financing, corporate buy-outs, divorce proceedings and bank asset recovery.

EDUCATION

Bernadette graduated from Pitzer College, Claremont, CA in 1987 with Bachelor of Arts Degree:  Sociology & Psychology double major.  While at Pitzer, Bernadette was a Varsity member of the cross country team for Pomona-Pitzer Athletics.

FAMILY

Bernadette has been married for over 19 years to her husband Michael A. Walsh.  They are raising their three children in Ridgewood.  The youngest of eight children from Irish and Croatian parents, she has a large supportive extended family.  An avid horseback rider since she was a child, she enjoys riding her thoroughbred.
